Would you like to refresh yourself? 要不要上廁所？

（下午，在會(huì)議室里，談話正好告一段落，也到了休息時(shí)間。提姆主任請(qǐng)張先生享用咖啡、蛋糕及點(diǎn)心。）

Tim: They just brought in refreshments. Please help yourself.

茶點(diǎn)已經(jīng)準(zhǔn)備好了，請(qǐng)用。

Mr.Zhang: Thank you.

謝謝。

張先生想在吃茶點(diǎn)前先去廁所，所以當(dāng)提姆主任說(shuō)：

Tim: Would you like to refresh yourself?

以為提姆再次請(qǐng)他去享用refreshments(茶點(diǎn))的張先生說(shuō)：

Mr.Zhang: Thank you, but before that I would like to go to the rest room.

謝謝，但是我想先去洗手間。

Tim: Of course. This way.

請(qǐng)往這邊。

（提姆露出詫異的神色一邊說(shuō)著，一邊告訴張先生廁所的位置。）

【Note】

“Would you like to refresh yourself?”、“Would you like to wash your hands?”與“Would you like to go to the rest room?”是同樣的意思，乃委婉地表示“你想不想上廁所？”之意。它另外還有“一鼓作氣”的含意。
