Listen to the tape then answer this question. What is Mr. Sawyer doing tonight?

It is eight o'clock. The children go to school by car every day, but today, they are going to school on foot.
現(xiàn)在是8點鐘。孩子們每天都乘小汽車去上學(xué)，而今天，他們正步行上學(xué)。
It is ten o'clock. Mrs Sawyer usually stays at home in the morning, but this morning, she is going to the shops.
現(xiàn)在是10點鐘。上午，索耶夫人通常是呆在家里的，但今天上午，她正去商店買東西。
It is four o’clock. In the afternoon, Mrs Sawyer usually drinks tea in the living-room, but this afternoon, she is drinking tea in the garden.

It is six o’clock. In the evening, the children usually do their homework, but this evening, they are not doing their homework. At the moment, they are playing in the garden.

It is nine o’clock, Mr. Sawyer usually reads his newspaper at night, but he is not reading his newspaper tonight. At the moment, he is reading an interesting book.

by(乘坐)表示"乘坐(某種交通工具)"，但它必須與動詞連用。表交通工具的名詞前不加冠詞：
by boat 乘船
by bus 乘公共汽車

一般現(xiàn)在時與現(xiàn)在進行時
一般現(xiàn)在時表示一般的動作或不斷重復(fù)發(fā)生的動作;現(xiàn)在進行時表示說話時正在發(fā)生的動作，動作還沒有完成。簡單圖示如下：
一般現(xiàn)在時表示永久的情況;進行時表示暫時的情況。請比較：
Jane works very hard most of the time.
簡大多工作努力。
Jane is working hard today.
簡今天工作很努力。
His parents live in Rome.
他父母住在羅馬。
He’s living with some friends now.
他現(xiàn)在與一些朋友們住在一起。
進行時只用于表示動作或偶爾發(fā)生的.事件(We are eating, it is raining等等)。有些動詞(如 like, want, know等)不是動作動詞，因此不能用進行時態(tài)，如不能說 I am knowing或We are liking，而只能說 I know或 We like。
一般現(xiàn)在時表達某個習(xí)慣性動作，通常與時間頻度副詞連用，如 usually, always, often, sometimes, never等;現(xiàn)在進行時表示此時此刻正在進行的動作，一般與 now, at the moment, today, this afternoon, this evening, tonight等連用。如：
We usually watch television at night. But we are listening to the stereo tonight.
我們通常晚上看電視。但是今晚我們正在聽立體聲節(jié)目。

1.play
(1)v. 玩，做游戲：
The children are playing in the garden.
孩子們正在花園里玩耍。
(2)v. 參加(體育活動、比賽等)：
Let's play chess!
咱們來下棋吧!
He likes playing basketball.
他喜歡打籃球。
(3)n. 玩耍;娛樂：
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
只工作而不娛樂會使人變呆的。
2.cook
(1)v. 烹調(diào);煮，燒：
She cooked a lovely meal for her husband.
她為丈夫做了一頓美餐。
The beef is not cooked enough.
牛肉煮得不夠熟。
(2)n. 廚子，炊事員：
Tom works as a cook in a local restaurant.
湯姆在當(dāng)?shù)氐囊患也宛^當(dāng)廚子。
My dad is really a good cook.
我爸爸烹調(diào)手藝特棒。
