　　香港大學(The University of Hong Kong)，簡稱為港大(HKU)，是一所位處中國香港特別行政區(qū)的公立研究型大學。其奠基于1910年3月16日，次年3月30日正式注冊成立，是香港歷史最悠久的高等教育機構(gòu)。建校初期，香港大學規(guī)模極小，自1912年3月11日正式開學，到1916年12月舉行首次畢業(yè)典禮，僅有23名畢業(yè)生。第二次世界大戰(zhàn)爆發(fā)，香港大學一度處于癱瘓狀態(tài)，1941年教學全面中止;1948年4月9日復校后，秩序重建與結(jié)構(gòu)轉(zhuǎn)型并舉，學校步入高速發(fā)展的黃金時期。
